Nautilus Brass Quintet, based in Boston, Massachusetts, is an emerging chamber initiative with a distinct mission to promote chamber music through performance and education. The individual members of Nautilus have varying areas of expertise both within and outside of music that coordinate to create a successful self-directed ensemble. After being named finalists at the 2010 International Jan Koetsier Chamber Competition in Munich, Germany, Nautilus gained momentum. Nautilus started 2011 being named the Resident Brass Quintet of the San Jose State University Summer in the City Music Program and were recently named winners of the University of Connecticut Brass Day Chamber Music Competition. They have also been recognized as semi-finalists in the international Plowman Chamber Music Competition and as finalists in the national J.C. Arriaga Chamber Music Competition.
